6 Reasons Why It’s Worth Being on LinkedIn Right Now
“Do I really need to update my LinkedIn profile?” someone asked the Twitterverse the other day and my resounding answer is “Yes”. Now I’m going to tell you why you need to do so.
Many of us are unemployed or under-employed right now. But I assure you, all that can and will change in the year ahead. Things will get better. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. And though new platforms are trying (Alignable, is an interesting one), none has quite as vast an imprint as LinkedIn.
Here are six reasons to be on LinkedIn and here’s hoping one of these will inspire you to update your profile today.
1) You Should Always Be Looking- Gone is the world where people stay at a job for twenty years. Sure there are still situations like this. But this pandemic has taught us that whole industries can disappear overnight. Why not keep your dance card open for other opportunities you have not yet even thought of. Scroll through the job listings, update your profile at least every six months, even if you are gainfully employed. It can’t hurt to look.
2) Connecting is key- It’s up to you who you connect with on LinkedIn. You may only want to accept connections from those you know or you’ve worked with. Sure, I am a little cautious when making connections but mainly I’m interested in meeting new…
