Manipulating time to be with my Mom

What if you could cheat time? Just find a small way to get more out of the moments you have here on earth. Well last week I did just that.

Let me lay it out for you:

First, my deal, I work in the theatre. I run my own business where I do a number of things from marketing to sales to business development to understanding consumer behavior. I guess the simplest way to describe what I do: get audiences to buy tickets to see shows.

There are two big hubs in the world for musicals: New York and London. So, twice a year I go to London to get a handle on what might be coming over to Broadway. I see shows, take meetings and try to understand what’s working to move inventory on that side of the pond. I love it. It turned out this year, I had a few friends who would be in London in late February, so I booked a five-day trip to land there around the same time.

And then, I did something unexpected. I called my Mom and invited her to come with me.

Now, to tell you about my Mom. My Mom lives on a farm in Western Massachusetts. She’d never left the States except for a trip to Montreal/Quebec. My Dad is a dog trainer and she has worked alongside him, running their business as they have for most of my life. Although, she’s young, (only 21 years older than I), she had a stroke a few years ago. It…
