What my desk will look like by December 2020

What do a career coach, Lebron James, habit training and a priority in-box all have in common? They are a few of the new tools I am using to be a better and productive person in 2020.

1) A Career Coach — On New Year’s Eve day, I had brunch with my dear friend, Merritt Minnemeyer. She’s a career and leadership coach and runs Master of One Coaching. We talked about 2019 and all I still need to do to be better at the work I do. I’ve burned out before and don’t wish to ever do it again. Her advice was to make sure to be more accountable and practice self-care. It helped to talk to someone about all I have on my plate and to get a fresh look on how to grow my business in the year ahead. If your career is something you want to focus on, consider meeting with a coach to help you plot out your future. It’s like work therapy and helped my mental health in ways I can’t even describe.

2) The Calm App- I originally downloaded this to get my kid to sleep and then I got addicted it myself. Matthew McConaughey will read you a bedtime story. You can learn to meditate and even focus your meditation on things like “Mindful Eating” or “Calming Flight Anxiety”. My current favorite is the LeBron James series on helping you “Train Your Mind”.
