What to Give and Get on Broadway (and beyond) this holiday season
When other people write letters to Santa, they tend to want cars and computers, Apple Watches and video game systems. All I want are shows in my stocking.
I work in the business of Broadway and I get asked all the time “What should I see?” and “What would my wife/husband/sister/mother-in-law enjoy?” so to save myself several emails, I am making this list to send to whoever asks. Full disclosure, I am a little partial to certain shows. But I mean every word of this. Medium isn’t a fan of links, so you’re gonna have to google to purchase but that’s far easier than heading to a mall this time of year.
1) Perfect for Your Tim Burton-loving relative or friend- I want to take my son to “Beetlejuice”. He’s obsessed with the film and having seen this hugely visual show I feel like he would eat up every minute of this and I’d be the cool mom the second he hears “Dead Mom” sung live. And with the sad news of the show closing in June 2020, you should all go visit the netherworld yourselves.
2) Perfect for cocktails and long conversations afterward- I want to take all my suburban couple friends to see “Slave Play” because I NEED to talk to them about it.This controversial show is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I promise you will talk and think about it for weeks after.
